Amy Lee Wheeler is an Emmy-nominated Art Director and Production Designer with 20 years of experience in film and television.

Amy grew up between Oklahoma and Las Vegas in a family where drafting tables and construction plans were always present, but she preferred getting messy drawing with charcoal sticks or painting with oils. An endless curiosity lured her through several mini-careers in architecture, graphics, printing, merchandising, and even model home interior design, each teaching ways to solve problems and express creativity.

But storytelling was always where her heart beat the loudest.

During college at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco she worked as a full-time Architectural Librarian then started her journey in production on shows like Sex and the City and The Office. Her knowledge of construction and strong 3D modeling skills made her a valuable Art Director on a range of projects that earned her an Emmy nomination and over 20 years of experience. Her work includes films like The Three Stooges and The Heartbreak Kid directed by the Farrelly brothers; television series like How to Get Away with Murder and Grace & Frankie, and the three-year creation of Disney’s Golden Oak Ranch backlot.

Most recently, she served as Production Designer on the new HBO Max series Gordita Chronicles, the upcoming Netflix series Freeridge, and dark comedy feature A Lot of Nothing, which was nominated for the Grand Jury Award at the 2022 SXSW Film Festival.

Amy Lee serves on the Gig Harbor Washington Design Review Board and is also a published author of five novels in women’s fiction and the thriller genres with her first contemporary fiction novels coming soon.

Her business Design Wheel Graphics was established out of Los Angeles in 2007 and has produced branding, logos, and graphics for authors, film creatives, retail stores, and non-profits in California, Washington, and Nevada.
