The first new backlot built in Los Angeles in over three decades, Golden Oak Ranch in Santa Clarita became a unique opportunity to work with a large team on 890 acres of scenery to bring a new era of convenient shooting sites to LA production. Amy worked as Supervising Art Director for four years overseeing the design, drawings, and construction phases on both the Residential Street and Business District.
Her previous experience in architecture brought a unique level of understanding that helped bridge communication with outside civil and structural engineers, grading teams, arborists, and specialty trades to create a massive production-focused environment like none that already existed. A massive berm was created and 140 mature trees were planted, some by large cranes, throughout the residential landscape to provide a believable setting to last generations. This massive undertaking has never been attempted by other studios, all while the construction is fire-proof to protect the vulnerable environment where it resides.
